2026 New Year’s message by Anthea McGibbon

FORWARD MOVEMENT in 2026. The best years are forward even as the world plunges into chaos. The best awaits us when we are determined to be carried in the arms of the Almighty with wisdom. Through pain we realise our best potential and we strive and do achieve. Especially as Jamaicans where our motto alone sets the pace for us to achieve our best through hardships faced.
We congratulate Kemar Samuels, newly appointed head of all public schools in New York City. This among other achievements of Jamaicans international presents opportunities for answering a greater call. The call to serve Jamaica through the highest roles.
There are concerns that Jamaica is experiencing a brain drain with our best educators migrating to greener pastures. Still its not only about educators who migrate, but entertainers who find themselves on pathways across the world. Another perspective offers that these appointments reflect the quality Jamaicans possess. Either way these are opportunities to establish connections to upgrade the systems of Jamaica. It’s new links created and lessons to apply to the country of the birth.

As a nation, there are some noble Jamaican leaders who we mourn as a nation such as businesspersons Don Wehby and Mable Tenn, musician Jimmy Cliff, Ruth Lawrence (legal personality), and more recent media personalities Donald Oliver and Alma Mock Yen who passed just last week. There time came to rest their bodies. Otherwise a large number of Jamaicans can relate to at least one family friend, family member who died in 2025.

The biggest challenges are yet to come as the world plunges into chaos. Added to that the advancement of Artificial Intelligence seemingly blurs the lines between what’s real and what’s not. The future of the world is literally now being manipulated and even history is put at risk with the world naturals disasters that even wipe many records and persons from the face of the earth.
In the year 2026, all Jamaicans are called to move forward with diligence. Let’s put aside the cause of strife that easily divide us and put us a grievance with each other. Let us instead be united by our strengths, and what makes us uniquely Jamaican. Although it sometimes is harder to turn the other cheek, its by far the better way to achieve peace, harmony and success in one’s endeavours.
As for the team of this site, the projects to assist in improving the life of Jamaica includes publishing answers to questions posed by Jamaicans.
Warmest hugs and wishes of wisdom, joy, success, love.. Family, friends, countrymen lots of strength and success .
